About us

Behind the Sign Inc is a 501(c)3 non-profit registered in Florida whose initial focus was on the beterment and wellfare of the homeless population in Hillsborough and the surrounding Tampa Bay Area. Due to the timing of Hurricane Michael in October 2018, our mission was adapted to also include post Hurricane assistance as well as other forms of family needs.

Behind the Sign has received donations from various companies all across the South East. Most notably Health Insurance Innovations, Madison Dearbon Partners acquisition currently trading on the NASDAQ. Thanks to their sizable investment in our success, we were able to assist thousands of those in need!

What we do

Points of Distribution

Behind the Sign setup and operated one of the many PODs (Points of Distributions) following Hurricane Michael in October 2018. Each POD was an oversized operations tent with pallets of dry food, clothing, some medical supplies and water readily available. Each was designed to allow individuals to drive-thru and remain in their cars while trunks were filled.

Sleeping Accomodations

Behind the Sign, thru many donations as well as the requisitioning of tents, sleeping bags and pillows, helped many residents get the best night sleep as humanly possible. While A/C was scarce, dry blankets, inflatable (and regular) mattresses and pillows made having to suffer post landfall a little more tolerable.

Food Assistance

Through many partnerships formed AFTER hurricane landfall, food truck operations as well as hot plate services was provided to anyone that needed to eat. Food was distributed three times a day for anyone hungry.
